Elevator is the word you will see in global brochures; lift is the word used in most Indian homes. In Bangalore, both mean the same thing. This guide to elevators in Bangalore explains the main types, how to choose between them and what to expect from the company that installs and maintains them.
Residential elevators
Residential elevators serve houses, villas and apartments. They emphasise a quiet ride, compact size and a design that blends with interiors. See residential elevators and home lifts in Bangalore.
Commercial elevators
Offices, hotels, malls and showrooms need elevators that handle heavy traffic. Group control, fast doors and strong AMC are key. See passenger elevators, capsule elevators and commercial lifts in Bangalore.
Hospital elevators
Hospital elevators need a spacious cabin for beds and stretchers, smooth levelling, wide doors and reliable backup power. See hospital lifts.
Freight and goods elevators
Warehouses and factories need strong cabins, heavy-duty doors and simple controls. See freight lifts and goods lifts.
Escalators and dumbwaiters
Malls and stations use escalators; kitchens and hotels use dumbwaiters. Read escalator vs elevator.
