Freight lifts are specified from the real load and the trolley or pallet truck that carries it, then rated with headroom to spare. A platform sized to the average load is the one that fails early; we would rather quote the duty the floor will actually put through it, every shift, for years.

The platform, guarding and gate arrangement are built for continuous working use, with MS or stainless linings that take knocks rather than show every one of them. Spares for the common failures are kept on the shelf instead of ordered after the lift has already stopped, and inspection under the AMC is logged so wear is caught before it becomes a breakdown.
