Escalators move large numbers of people smoothly through malls, stations, offices and public buildings. They need careful planning, precise installation and disciplined maintenance. This guide explains how to choose an escalator company in Bangalore.
Where escalators make sense
- Malls and retail buildings with heavy footfall.
- Metro and railway stations.
- Airports, hotels and convention spaces.
- Large offices and tech parks.
Read escalator vs elevator for commercial buildings.
Planning an escalator
- Decide floor-to-floor height and angle.
- Plan landing space and crowd flow.
- Provide structural support and a pit.
- Arrange power and fire safety coordination.
- Plan maintenance access.
Safety features
Handrail speed sync, emergency stop buttons, comb plate safety, skirt brushes and clear signage are essential. Read escalator safety and installation guide.
Choosing an escalator company
| Criterion | What to look for | Questions to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Site survey | A visit with measurements before any price | Will you measure the shaft, pit and overhead yourself? |
| Written quotation | Itemised scope, specification, exclusions and payment terms | What is not included in this price? |
| Safety | Door sensors, overload protection, alarm, intercom, emergency light, rescue on power failure | Which safety features are standard? |
| Installation team | Trained technicians with supervision | Who will be on my site and who supervises? |
| Inspection support | Guidance on Karnataka inspection and licence steps | Who handles the paperwork? |
| Service and AMC | Written visit frequency, parts covered, response approach | What happens when the lift stops at night? |
| References | Completed projects like yours | Can I see or speak to similar customers? |
Maintenance and AMC
Escalators need frequent cleaning, lubrication and inspection. A strong AMC is essential. See AMC companies.
